While Daniel and I were working on “Into the Abyss” another song emerged. “Beneath the Shell” expresses the fear of existence, the dread of everyday life and waiting for metamorphosis. “Beneath the Shell” is one of the few songs where the lyrics have been written first. Inspired by Franz Kafka’s novels, especially “The Metamorphosis”, this song reflects dark thoughts. What if we are meaningless insects? Does this perspective as bug lurking into different lives do any good? Both musically and lyrically, “Beneath the Shell” does not shy away from strong language and dreadful images of weltschmerz. That’s why we decided against a mild version. This time I wrote the lyrics and let Daniel record the song the way he hard it. In the end, I added some layers of synthesizers and produced the song. For me, it was a very interesting project, because I rarely have the opportunity to work with extended range instruments. Thank you for that! As usual, you can find the song on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp. I would highly appreciate it if you could leave a comment on SoundCloud or YouTube, as these are the only platforms for that.

Remastering my discography for re-releasing, I found 10 songs, that are not part of any albums yet. Time to compile another volume of b-sides: Electro Static! It is fascinating to listen to your whole discography. I wrote more than 300 songs in 20 years, and still find some gems that I almost forgot. “Electro Static” is a compilation of songs that have been written in my transition phase. I was not feeling electronic music any more, but did not have the skills for handmade music, so I tried my best to produce pop and rock music with electronic instruments. This led to the name of this album, which is inspired by electronic music, electrical currents and being stuck. If you listen closely to this album you may figure out that “Needless” is the only song with real guitars. I decided to put it onto this album though, because we still have plenty of synths. My personal favourites are “Seven days to live” and “So what you rock”. Listen to this album if you enjoy electro pop or electro punk. We’re all between that. As usual you can find the album preview on YouTube. “Electro Static” is now available on all streaming platforms. I highly recommend purchasing the album on Bandcamp, though. I’m also hosting a Bandcamp listening party on Saturday, August 2nd, 8pm Central European Time.

Celebrate the digital re-release of my debut album “Trancemotion” (2006) with me. After 19 years, we decided to make it available for streaming platforms. Pick your favourite platform – or support me on Bandcamp. Some of you may have noticed that I have been re-releasing older songs on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer and YouTube Music. We are done with all singles from 2003 to 2006. Now, about 19 years later, it’s time for the re-release of my first trance album, “Trancemotion”. I can still remember my excitement when I printed the first CD batch in 2006. Can you imagine my excitement about putting this album onto streaming services? Of course, this big event won’t happen without notice. I decided to host a listening party tonight on Bandcamp. If you downloaded the songs on Bandcamp before, I kindly ask you to download them once again, so you have them in the same loudness as all my other albums. No worries, you don’t have to pay for these again, as they are already part of your collection. If you find some time, you can join the Bandcamp Listening Party at 8pm CEST. Also, you can listen to the previews on my YouTube channel: My debut album “Trancemotion” brings together 1990s and 2000s trance vibes, driving basslines and emotive vocals. It is perfect for millennials who grew up in the golden age of trance and enjoyed club length songs. As 1990s raves are getting popular again, I bet that some newer generations, who enjoy the rise of melodic techno, will also enjoy this blend of futuristic sounds and dreamy melancholia. “Trancemotion” is a timeless album of oldschool trance and emotion, with nearly 80 minutes of playing time. I hope you enjoy this one, whether you are new to my music – or just started to follow my profiles. Besides Bandcamp, my album “Trancemotion” is now available on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer and YouTube Music. Here is a full list of the services available. Hopefully, Juno and Beatport will follow. Big thanks to all people who were involved in this project: Vera M. van Bergh, Max W., Ramona Muhn, ElectronicV, Ben Aetheryon and Julian F. This album would have never happened without you.

Happy New Year, everybody! After 20 years of music, I decided to expand my reach by placing my discography onto different platforms. Joining my Bandcamp subscription supports a sustainable ecosystem for indie music, and also helps me to pay annual expenses for distribution. I will offer most of my singles and remixes as high quality downloads and for streaming. The problem of music streaming When talking about music streaming, most people rely on Spotify, Apple Music or Amazon Music. Of course, mainstream platforms offer a huge amount of songs and artists, but their revenue is minuscule. In average, 1000 streams of a song pay 2-3 USD – and most indie artists don’t even reach 1000 streams on one song. They pay for distributors and playlist promoters, though it’s pointless to compete against a huge amount of fake artists and AI generated music. In the end, artists do a lot of work and get nothing. As streaming platforms are the new normal, I’m working hard on getting my music there. I don’t do music for the money, but I want to have a reach. Besides having serious problems of finding a distributor that can handle my extreme amount of collabs and songs, we encounter several technical difficulties. We’re running tests since May 2024 – Now it’s January 2025, and we don’t have a result yet. If we succeed, I’ll end up with annual expenses just to be on streaming platforms. If we don’t – there’s still no place to download our singles. Why regular Bandcamp doesn’t work There is a much better way to support indie artists most people don’t know about: Bandcamp. Besides of offering high quality downloads and sharing 70-85% of their revenue with artists, streams are reported to music collection societies and chart reporting systems. That said, Bandcamp is not only an online shop, but also a different ecosystem that pays a fairer revenue for musicians. I always wanted to have my discography on Bandcamp, but I did not find a good way to handle it. My discography is huge. The more songs you upload onto Bandcamp, the slower the site, and there’s no way to filter or sort. After some long thoughts, I came to the idea of offering my albums on the regular Bandcamp site and the singles and remixes as annual subscription. This would keep my Bandcamp site fast and neat, while helping me to pay for the annual expenses to get my music on streaming platforms. What does a Bandcamp subscription mean? Similar to Patreon or Steady, you pay 25 EUR (equals 25 USD) per year to access all singles and EPs under the subscription tier. These will be included into your stash, so you can download them or stream them everywhere and anytime you want. I decided for an annual model, because Bandcamp and the payment provider already take a cut of 15-20%. Setting everything up is quite a tough amount of work including remastering, designing covers and correcting metadata. Please understand that I can’t do that in a few days – it will take months. My Bandcamp subscription offers: If you support me with a Bandcamp subscription you get my music for a lower price than on any other platform, make sure that the money reaches the artists directly AND support me to get my stuff on streaming platforms. Already 4 subscriptions help me to break even. Important: The Bandcamp Subscription is a service from Bandcamp. Their terms and conditions apply. Of course, most of my music is still accessible without subscription. You can download my albums on Bandcamp without being a subscriber. My YouTube channel continues the same way, and my SoundCloud offers the last 10–20 songs (and the published material, if possible). However, Bandcamp is the only place where you can download unpublished material and remixes.

My album “Nebula” consists of electronic music that has been written in between “Trancemotion” and “Event Horizon”. It is a trip into the void, starting with positive dance tracks and ending up in the darkness you’d expect from “Event Horizon”. Though this album will be published on Bandcamp, December 6, I will date back the release date to January 26, 2015, because all songs were written and produced between 2004 and 2015. The cover image is shot by Felix, who also shot the photo for “Event Horizon”. Thanks a lot for your stunning artwork! As usual, I created a preview video on YouTube. This will give you a 10-minute overview of the album, that has a playing time of roughly 52 minutes. “Nebula” is now available on Bandcamp. There will be a listening party tonight. I would appreciate it if you take your time to listen to these older works and support me on Bandcamp Friday, which is today, December 6. Please remember that on Bandcamp Fridays, all artists get 100% of the revenue.
