Who are we when everything we create and share exists only online? This song drifts between connection and emptiness, exploring social media escapism and digital isolation. Some months ago, I wrote a haunting instrumental that needed a topliner. So happy that Jay El Dee was interested in writing something for Halloween. Her unusual take of discussing the emptiness of social media takes the tradition of haunting songs into a new era. In this arrangement, you can hear all kind of strange synthesizers, interwoven with eerie ad-libs and thought-provoking lyrics. If you enjoy this kind of jam, don’t forget to visit Jay El Dee’s discography – she writes a lot about modern life and conflicts. As usual, you can find our new song on YouTube and all streaming platforms. Have a great Halloween!

My new song is special, because I barely write German lyrics. But this time, they hit so hard, that I was happy to team up with Momente-Galerie, a talented singer-songwriter. Be prepared for a catchy pop rock anthem! Though German is my mother tongue, it is hard for me to write lyrics. The German language tends to sound quite harsh, complex and schmaltzy. Finding the sweet spot demands a lot of experience. When I wrote the lyrics, I imagined a hard hitting and catchy song like the wave of Deutschpop and Deutschrock that has been in the radios in the early 2000s. I am happy that I stumbled across Momente-Galerie, whose singer-songwriter music has the relentless energy. She wrote great melodies and chords around my lyrics. Later we teamed up to turn the acoustic version into a full band song, where I smashed my electric guitar. Lyrically, “Auf Wiedersehen” (German: goodbye) offers an unapologetic take on betrayal and unfaithfulness. The narrator kicks their cheating partner out of both the house and their life. It’s a breakup song, but one with no return and no remorse. You can find our hard hitting pop rock song “Auf Wiedersehen” on all streaming platforms, and of course on YouTube and Bandcamp, too. I highly recommend listening to both versions, as it’s very interesting to hear, how a singer with guitar take can have so much emotion.

Winter is coming. It’s time for some dark and haunting songs. With that in mind, Michael Karns and I decided to upload our latest collab, “Calling To Me”. It is available on YouTube and SoundCloud. The background story for this song is quite interesting, as it developed out of a songwriting challenge. It inspired me to try dark and disharmonic in 6/8 signature. “Calling To Me” has that eerie quality of a haunted house. Somebody, or maybe just a distant thought, asking for help within a dark and desperate place of loneliness and discomfort. I am happy that Michael jumped into this atmosphere and created sparse lyrics that explain a lot, and nothing at once. The distance between the lines, the irregularities, haunting yet beautiful. Please visit my YouTube or SoundCloud profile to listen to our song. We would be very happy to read your comments.

Some months ago, I wrote a pop rock instrumental that needed an uplifting lyric. As some of you may know, it’s not an easy task for me, so I am happy that We Happy Few jumped in and also offered vocals and guitars. And the result is our song “Hold On To Your Dreams”. The message of these lyrics is quite clear. Believe in your dreams, believe in yourself, even if not everything is fine all the time. This song should lift you up and empower you to try something new and find yourself. Big thanks go to We Happy Few, with whom I was never able to finish the song. As usual, you can listen to our song on SoundCloud and YouTube.

Today my new collaboration with Stefan and Flinn will drop on YouTube and SoundCloud. “Something More” is the story of a young man, who falls for somebody unreachable. It’s about being lost in sweet dreams and the hope for something more though it’s clear that they are not made for each other. When Stefan sent me the draft for his singer-songwriter / pop-rock song, his bittersweet melodies and happy chords inspired me to jump back to carefree teenage years. The arrangement and programming has been established in close collaboration. Flinn adds his deep voice and young spirit, turning this song into something special. As usual, you can listen to our song on SoundCloud and YouTube. Thanks a lot for your great song, Stefan and for the vocals, Flinn.
