Migrating my discography is a huge project. I am happy to have re-released my second album, “When The Sun Goes Down” – a multi-genre album between pop and trance. “When The Sun Goes Down” holds a special place in my heart, because it contains my very first pop songs. Many of you just know me as an electronic music producer, but I’m more than that. On this album, I showcase my ability to write pop songs and lyrics. I worked with several musicians from Germany to record vocals and guitar tracks for the second half of the album. As many years passed, since “When The Sun Goes Down” was originally released, I was not able to contact all people involved. The streaming version has a slightly different tracklist. “Breathing Rush”, “Sore” and “Autumnal” could not be published as they are technically remixes. The song “Daylight means endeavour” had to be replaced by its instrumental version “Beauty of Melancholy”. Bandcamp is the only place where you can listen and get the full version of the album – but all other songs are on the streaming version. We also published many singles, including unheard acoustic and instrumental versions. Many thanks to all people who have been involved on this album! You can find a preview video on YouTube. It features the tracklist of the Bandcamp version. I just scheduled a Bandcamp listening party today, 8pm CEST (Berlin time). Please tune in, I’m happy to chat with you!

Here is a brand-new song from the studio. As every year, we teamed up with four random musicians to create a song based on four tracks. Here is this year’s outcome! One of my personal highlights is a songwriting game I play with indie musicians: write a song with randomly assigned musicians. Like on the four track cassettes, everybody contributes one instrument to a song. Nobody knows which instrument the next person will add, you could end up in whatever genre and writing about whatever absurdity. This time, RobinLeaf started with vocals. She has been inspired by psychology and wrote a lyric based on an avoidant character who is working on their flaws. I harmonized her vocal recording with a piano, envisioning a dramatic ballad. When Ken Mattsson added a harmonic layer of vocals, I decided to turn it into a duet. Last but not least, Paul Benham added soundscape magic with the guitars. Thank you so much for joining the game and contributing your parts. For now, our song “Trying to Be” is only available on YouTube. Robin will record her version with a ukulele that may use completely different chords. We are so psyched to hear this version as well!

A catchy phrase from my newest song, “The Wind”. This ballad has been written in a random collaboration with the Australian musician and lyricist John Nicholson, and performed by me and Dirk Diamond. A very reflective and dark song about death. I’m all in for new ways to collaborate with people all over the world. In Summer 2022 I joined a random collaboration, where I have been given lyrics. The genre, composition and phrasing has been completely up to me, and I heard a power ballad. Being a guitar beginner, it took me half a year to learn the song, but I am very proud that I managed some good takes. Dirk offered me to do a way better job on the vocals then I could ever do. Thank you so much, you were a great team! Lyrically, this song is very sombre and pensive. I thought of it as facing death and realizing that it is inevitable. Still, the leaves carry a hopeful message of becoming a part of nature and rebirth. The cover image is inspired by the lyrics, and we are very proud of the result. As usual, you can check it out on YouTube and SoundCloud.

Today, I’d like to present a song with a positive message: Don’t pay love back, pay it forward. This citation of Lily Hardy Hammond (1916) inspired my co-musicians to write a song about spreading kindness. Some months ago, Nadia composed the piano piece “Pay It Forward” about spreading love and kindness. Her work inspired me to arrange into a power ballad by adding a guitar and programming a rhythm section. Caitlin, whose voice you may know from “Angel In Jeans”, joined the collaboration with lyrics and vocals, following the original song idea. It figured that the phrase “don’t pay love back, you pay it forward” was most likely coined in 1916 by author Lily Hardy Hammond in her novel “In The Garden Of Delight”. Later, I decided to add some licks on my nylon acoustic guitar. Please help us to spread the message of hope, love and kindness to the world. Special thanks to Nadia for starting that idea. We wanted to collaborate months ago and I am glad that it happened. You can listen to the song on SoundCloud, YouTube and Bandcamp. Thanks for your collaboration!

Some songs come straight from the heart. Without plan, with no reason, just telling a story you cannot put into words. This has been the situation on my new ballad “How are you?”. The title says it all. I have been very concerned about a friend in January and February. Introverts often step back and try to solve problems on their own. But after 3 months without any call or mail, I have been very worried. I picked up the phone, but I lacked of words. Magic happened, when I sat down on my synthesizers and jammed something. I composed a very emotional and complex song completely outside my comfort zone. I finally found the strength to call my friend, and I was super lucky that he picked up and said that he’s been alright. When I uploaded the draft, Lucas has been instantly inspired to write lyrics expressing the words I didn’t have in that particular situation. He read my mind, though we never met and live 4000 miles apart. Robert recorded a super tight drum groove, which helped Rich to groove a great bassline and record guitars. You all did an awesome job in this collaboration across the pond. It’s a top-notch song in a completely different direction for all of us! Thanks for being part of that project – you’re amazing! Listen to “How are you?” on YouTube or SoundCloud. The song will be part of an album I haven’t planned yet. Happy Holidays!
