When I wrote “Pyromancer” at the beginning of 2021, I could never have guessed finding a band for fantasy and medieval inspired folk metal in a few hours. The very same band decided to record a successor called “Take The Black”. Are you ready for an epic folk metal fight? Everything started on my classical guitar while playing arpeggios. I suddenly had the urge to include bagpipes into a song. Suddenly, I remembered Jordan‘s words about “Pyromancer“. He said, this song reminds him of medieval villagers fighting with forks and shields against an evil tyrant. Why don’t we just turn this idea into a song? While Jordan focussed on lyrics and vocal melody, I continued with the instrumental. After a few days this song turned into a 6-minute epic including a bagpipe, an acoustic guitar, a heavy metal band and an orchestra. “Take The Black” turned into the biggest arrangement yet written. Musically and lyrically, we were inspired by fantasy role play games and novels. We asked Stephan and Simon to join us, as they worked with us on “Pyromancer”. I am happy that they both helped us with bass and electric guitars. Tom joined us as lead guitarist, adding a flawless and epic solo. We had to adapt the key and tuning to make it playable on a real bagpipe. However, we didn’t find a guest musician, so we continued recording with virtual instruments instead. You can listen to our song on YouTube and SoundCloud. We are very pleased for your comments and like and hope that enjoyed some epic medieval metal music!

After 1.5 years of hard work, my album “Going My Way” has been released on Bandcamp today. We have written and recorded 11 songs in between pop, rock and metal in international collaborations. You can download it in several formats exclusively on Bandcamp. After releasing “Event Horizon” in March 2021, I did not expect to write or produce music. Of course, I did not even expect to write a multi facetted album with 23 musicians all over the world. We have covered all styles of music except for electro, and I am very honoured and pleased to have finished such a huge project. Thanks to all participants for bringing me back to music and motivating me. “Going My Way” opens a new chapter as a songwriter – and I love how natural it feels. You can buy and download my album “Going My Way” exclusively on Bandcamp. Pay as you like and get your stuff as wac, flac or mp3. The total playing length is roughly 45 minutes, but you receive a digital booklet, printable inlays for a jewel case and a bonus track. You can listen to a preview on YouTube. Thanks for participating in this huge project. You’re the best!

My brand-new studio album “Going My Way” will be released on July 1st. It’s a journey of pop, rock and metal music, containing most songs I uploaded in the last months and bonus material. If you cannot wait until July 1st, I got some amazing news for you: The Bandcamp pre-order of “Going My Way” starts today! If you order, you can download some songs in full quality. The remaining will be shipped on July 1st in any file format you like (wav, flac, mp3 or as stream in the Bandcamp app). You only have to log in again and fetch the content. Besides 45 minutes of playing time, you’ll receive a booklet, printable inlays for jewel case and a bonus track. About the album “Going My Way” Sometimes it is better to close a chapter a start a new one. After publishing “Event Horizon” I decided to leave electronic music production, not knowing where my muse may take me. Not being the performing artist has been a bit bewildering for me and my followers, but I discovered my talents in composition, arrangement and lyrics in different styles of music. I’m going my way. Not matching any expectations, just do what I like. This is the context of the album title. “Going My Way” is a wild ride from pop over rock to metal. This journey would never be possible without 23 talented musicians from all around the world who helped me to record vocals and all instruments I cannot perform. On this album, you will mostly hear me as composer, arranger, lyricist and producer – not as performer, though I played some keys here and there. Lyrically, “Going My Way” deals with inner struggles and finding back inner strength. As this album is VERY diverse, I strongly recommend listening to every song before saying that my new music doesn’t match your taste. I am sure that there is at least one song you may enjoy. Take a look into the tracklist You guys and girls are incredible to work with. Every song is such a gem, that I gave up on the plan of hiding some songs for album purposes. There is no song that is not worth a single! Let’s take a deeper look, what made it to the album: Wrench In The Works Pyromancer Fight For You Weight Going My Way Angel In Jeans Promises A.L.E.X. Don’t tell me if it hurts Where does it end? At Your Command The album starts with metal, ends with metal and has some pop in between. The list of all involved artists is too lengthy to post here. Please take a look into my Bandcamp or my discography instead. But I want to say thanks to ALL of you! Lessons learned Changing from electronic music to handmade music is harder than I expected. Every instrument has a particular sound and range, and not every key is good to perform. It has been hard for me to reset my mind, because not every mixing technique I learned from electronic music works in the acoustic world and vice versa. New horizons opened to me as a songwriter. No restriction and boundaries in terms of key changes and time signatures. This is something I don’t want to miss. Writing songs in many genres has been so much fun, that I will continue.

After producing so many pop songs this year, I want to finish 2021 with something completely different. Are you ready for a genre I never tried before? Can you guess the genre by the cover illustration? Two years ago, I visited a friend who owned a hurdy-gurdy. Despite the tuning, It was so much fun to play! This medieval instrument sounds a bit like a cello with a chord in the background, but it’s played like a piano with a crank. When I wrote “Pyromancer” I instantly knew that this melody should be played on this medieval instrument. I never had the intention to write metal, but the melody longed for heavy guitars and medieval fantasy related lyrics. This way I composed my first folk metal song. People went nuts, when they heard the sketch, cause it sounded like something different and fresh. Jordan‘s power metal falsetto brought my lyrics into life and summoned Stephan (bass, octave mandolin) and Simon (guitar). During recording, we figured out, that the key is not performable on a real hurdy-gurdy. Ben added a violin solo I could never think of. After half a year of work, we are happy to show you a song that’s gonna set you on fire! During production, I already had an idea for a video clip in my head, but I didn’t find any stock videos. So I dusted off my graphics tablet and drew the pyromancer with that evil smirk. Can something be more metal than a shady fire magician and lyrics about the conquest of a medieval fortress? You can listen to our song on YouTube and SoundCloud. 2021 has been a year full of musical and artistic surprises. Great things happen if you don’t take yourself too serious and let your creativity flow. I did not expect to write so many songs with so many talented people and trying new genres. Thank you so much for being part of the collabs and turning this year into one of the best I had. Let the pyros go off – And have a happy new year!
