Auf Wiedersehen – Say goodbye to unfaithfulness

My new song is special, because I barely write German lyrics. But this time, they hit so hard, that I was happy to team up with Momente-Galerie, a talented singer-songwriter. Be prepared for a catchy pop rock anthem!

Though German is my mother tongue, it is hard for me to write lyrics. The German language tends to sound quite harsh, complex and schmaltzy. Finding the sweet spot demands a lot of experience. When I wrote the lyrics, I imagined a hard hitting and catchy song like the wave of Deutschpop and Deutschrock that has been in the radios in the early 2000s. I am happy that I stumbled across Momente-Galerie, whose singer-songwriter music has the relentless energy. She wrote great melodies and chords around my lyrics. Later we teamed up to turn the acoustic version into a full band song, where I smashed my electric guitar.

Lyrically, “Auf Wiedersehen” (German: goodbye) offers an unapologetic take on betrayal and unfaithfulness. The narrator kicks their cheating partner out of both the house and their life. It’s a breakup song, but one with no return and no remorse.
